Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has asked all private doctors in the city to inform the corporation about all tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment with them as Tb is a notifiable disease.
A directive issued by city TB officer of NMC says Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, in the ‘End TB Summit’ in Delhi on March 13, set a target of TB eradication from the country by 2025. But this requires a coordinated effort of both the government and private sector.

Hence, private practitioners are required to send the details of every TB patient to the health office of the NMC. Dr TB Tumane is the nodal officer for the project. The government is also making various other provisions for providing incentives to the doctors who treat TB patients in private as well the pharmacies who sell medicines to the patients.
