Trump said he wishes his people would respond to him like North Korea’s Kim

President Donald Trump on Friday continued to warmly describe the regime of Kim Jong Un after meeting the totalitarian North Korean leader earlier this week and agreeing to a tentative plan to move toward nuclear disarmament:

‘He speaks, and his people sit up in attention. I want my people to do the same.’

It should be pointed out that Trump was pointing to the White House when he made the remark — indicating that he was likely referring to his staff, and not the American people, that should sit up and pay attention.

In a gaggle on the White House lawn after his interview on Fox News, Trump said he was joking on the matter. “I’m kidding,” Trump said. “You people don’t understand sarcasm.”

Trump has on several occasions this week, including from Singapore, referred to Kim as “tough” and has repeatedly praised him for inheriting the regime at a young age.

North Korea holds as many as 130,000 political prisoners, according to the International Bar Association.
