A Hamilton man has died after his motorcycle collided with a cargo van Thursday.
Emergency crews were called to Garth Street and Madonna Drive around 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
A 30-year-old Hamilton man was on a motorcycle heading south on Garth, and was driving faster than 50 km/h, police said in a media release.
A 39-year-old Hamilton man was driving a cargo van northbound on Garth. As the van made a left turn onto Madonna Drive, police say, the motorcycle hit it.
Witnesses tried to help the motorcycle driver. When paramedics arrived, he was taken to hospital, where he died.
The cargo van driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
This is Hamilton's eighth fatal vehicle collision this year. Six drivers have died.
In fact, there was a fatal collision a day earlier at Queenston Road at Delena Avenue. A Hamilton man was driving a Ford Escape and hit a Toyota Yaris head on. The 25-year-old woman driving the Yaris died.
The Ford Escape driver has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
