Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp sent huge Bayern Munich warning over summer signing
XHERDAN SHAQIRI would only be a squad player at Liverpool, which could turn out to be a problem for Jurgen Klopp, claims pundit Stewart Robson.
Shaqiri has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days.
The Switzerland international is keen on leaving Stoke after their relegation to the Championship.
Liverpool’s move for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir has fallen through, so they have seemingly turned their attentions to 26-year-old Shaqiri.
Robson doubts whether the attacking midfielder would be happy being a squad player though, something he was during his time at Bayern Munich.

He didn’t do particularly well at Bayern Munich when he was a squad player
But he says if Jurgen Klopp can get a tune out of him, it could be a useful addition.
“I can’t see him getting into the team,” Robson told ESPN FC.
“I can see him being a squad player who can come on, but he didn’t do particularly well at Bayern Munich when he was a squad player.
“But, is he better than (Adam) Lallana? On his day he gives you something different to Lallana.

“Is he going to play in that hole in behind the main striker? I think he could.
“If (Mohamed) Salah was injured, if (Sadio) Mane was injured he could go wide and do a good job.
“So I’d say that’s a hit, as a squad player, Shaqiri to Liverpool.”
