RANCHI: BJP national president Amit Shah is expected to visit the state on July 12 to take stock of BJP's preparations for the 2019 parliamentary and assembly polls, party sources said on Thursday.

A senior state BJP leader told TOI, "Shah will also meet prominent ctizens of the state and apprise them of the achievements of Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre."

Shah had last visited Ranchi in September last year where he held a meeting with the party's district committees. He directed the party workers to form booth-level committees to improve BJP's support base in villages.

BJP's state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said, "The status of our president's Jharkhand visit will be announced as soon as it is confirmed."

Shah has also directed the state leadership to gun for more than 60 seats in the 81-member assembly, sources said.
