He went on to star in the remake of The Fly in 1986, earning critical acclaim for his performance.
In the 1990s Goldblum appeared in blockbuster films such as the original Jurassic Park, the subsequent sequels and Independence Day in 1996.
Ed Begley Jr., who appeared with Goldblum in 1985's Transylvania 6-5000and Norm Eisen, an ethics czar for former U.S. President Barack Obama, who inspired Godlblum's character in 2014's The Grand Budapest Hotel, spoke on his behalf during the ceremony.
"He not only played a deeply ethical individual in that film," Eisen said. "But he's that same person in real life. Kind, generous, a wonderful friend and above all else deeply moral."
