Saudi Coalition Enters a Key Airport in Yemen

Capture of airport near vital city of Hodeidah would be a blow to Iran-backed Houthis

Yemeni troops backed by a Saudi-led coalition entered the airport of Yemen’s most important port city late Friday, dealing a blow to Iran-backed Houthis there and moving closer to their goal of seizing the strategic city.

The airport’s capture would position coalition forces on the southern outskirts of Hodeidah, paving the way for a possible full-scale assault of the city, despite warnings from the United Nations and aid groups of the potential for a humanitarian disaster that could ensue.
