Brie Larson will take the lead in Captain Marvel

The actress, 28, will make her Marvel debut as Carol Danvers in her own solo movie next March, before joining the rest of the MCU team in Avengers 4.

Speaking to E! last night, she opened up about just how strong Danvers is - and it seems Thanos could do with being very nervous indeed.

“She’s so strong - she can move planets,” she revealed. Yes, entire planets.

“So for me, it was like - ‘how far can I go with this strength?’”

Asked what fans should expect, she mused: “They should get excited. I’m really proud of what we’re making.

“I really think all the hype and anticipation will be worth it.”

Captain Marvel is one of three Marvel movies currently slated for release in 2019, alongside Avengers 4 and the currently untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will them follow in 2020.

The plot of Captain Marvel is being kept relatively under-wraps but it’s no secret that Larson’s involvement in the MCU will be huge - especially after she was alluded to in the end credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War.

Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury was seen using a communication device to send her a message, shortly before he turned to ash as a result of the Snap - executed by Thanos when he collected all of the Infinity Stones.

Captain Marvel will also star Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace and Jude Law among others.

Annette Bening was recently cast in a mystery role, but has so far remained tight-lipped about who exactly she is playing.

Captain Marvel will be set in the 1990s and will see the Earth caught in the middle of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.

Captain Marvel is out on March 8, 2019.
