‘Amit Shah responded favourably’

The NDA government at the Centre is committed to setting up a steel plant in Kadapa and people must not be misled by the motivated campaign of some political parties, Lok Sabha member and BJP national executive member K. Haribabu has said.

He exuded confidence that a positive decision would be taken soon by the Centre as promised in the A.P. Reorganisation Act.

Referring to the recent developments on the proposed steel plant, he said the Act had stated that its feasibility should be examined by SAIL and it had submitted that the project was not financially viable.

Task force

However, the then Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu had formed another task force including the RINL and MECON. The Task Force, in its report, said that a steel plant could be set up in Kadapa if the State government offered some exemptions and even the latter had also responded positively, Mr. Haribabu said . “During a meeting with the BJP leaders on Wednesday, party’s president Amit Shah responded favourably to the steel plant in Kadapa,” he said.

The MP said Union Steel Minister Birender Singh also responded positively on the project. The decisions taken in the past were submitted to the Supreme Court in an affidavit on the issue by the Centre. “Some political parties creating hurdles for the steel plant when the Union Government is agreeable is not justified,” he added.
