SRINAGAR: A 17-year-old youth was killed and two other civilians were injured after security forces allegedly opened fire at stone-pelters in south Kashmir's
Pulwama district on Friday.
Terrorist sympathisers pelted stones on an
Indian Army patrolling party at Nowpora Payeen area of Lassipora, police said. The soldiers initially fired a few shots in the air to disperse the mob, but the protesters continued to hurl stones, allegedly compelling the forces to shoot, Pulwama SSP Mohammad Aslam Choudhary said.
One youth - identified as Viqas Ahmad Rather (17) - was killed in the clash while two others, including a girl, sustained injuries and have been admitted to a hospital, the SSP added.
