Vadodara: Police registered a case of attempted murder against a resident of Yakutpura in connection with the stabbing of Bhavin Choksi, a resident of Jagmal ni Pol in Bajwada area, near Champaner Gate on Wednesday night.
A former marketing executive, Bhavin Choksi, had got into an altercation with Sefan Malek outside a paan shop near Chamapner Gate. Malek then allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Choksi.
A police officer said that Choksi was sitting on a parapet outside a paan shop at around 8.30pm when Malek got there. As Malek also wanted to sit down, he asked Choksi to move, but the latter didn’t. Malek asked Choksi to move again and then verbally abused him. The argument snowballed and Malek then allegedly stabbed Choksi and fled.
A profusely bleeding Choksi was first taken to a private hospital in Salatwada and then to a hospital in Manjalpur. Police said that his condition had improved on Thursday. Malek, however, is still at large.
“We looked at his home and other possible hideouts but have not found him,” said a police officer. Cops said that the duo knew each other since they were both regulars at the paan shop. “After we question the complainant again, we will be know if there was enmity between them which was aggravated on Wednesday night,” the police official added.
The communally-sensitive area had grown tense after the stabbing. Police deployed additional forces to thwart any flare-ups.
