Sky TV boost and it is very good news if you happen to own a 4K television
SKY has announced that it is adding a host of new content being beamed to customers in Ultra HD 4K quality. Here's what's new and how to get it.
SKY
After making a commitment to 4K Ultra HD last year, Sky is now broadcasting more content in this ultimate format.
Customers with the new Sky Q system can already watch football, F1 and some movies in 4K and now cricket is being added to that list.
Sky says that customers will be able to enjoy England’s One Day Internationals and Twenty20 matches in stunning Ultra HD for the first time.
Starting with England taking on Australia at the KIA Oval in June, through to England’s last match against India at Headingley in July every match will be broadcast in this pin-sharp format.
The broadcasts will also allow Sky Q customers to experience multi-camera coverage in stunning Ultra HD graphics, 1080 50p Hawk-Eye, and enhanced statistical offerings from CricViz.
Speaking about the update Bryan Henderson, Sky Sports Head of Cricket, commented: “Offering cricket fans all forms of the game in Ultra HD is another step forward for our ever-expanding range of Ultra HD Sports content.
"Following our first Test Match broadcasts last year, fans of T20 and ODI will now be taken closer to the action, excitement, and drama than ever before when Australia and India visit from June.”

What will you need to watch sports in Ultra HD?
Ultra HD is an innovative new video format, with a picture resolution of 3840x2160 pixels at 50 frames per second, which is 4 times the number of HD TV.
This allows you to watch Sky TV shows and movies with greater clarity and detail.
To get this ultimate format in your living room you will, of course, need a 4K Ultra HD compatible TV.
Most new televisions now support 4K but it's worth checking before you do anything else.
Next you'll need the more expensive Sky Q 2TB box as the basic 1TB box, which comes as standard on most Sky deals, isn't compatible with 4K.
Sky also states that users must have a multiscreen subscription to access this premium 4K content.
