Join 59News to 'Fill the Boot for Food'
BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) - Three locations, dozens of volunteers, and a mission to help keep cabinets and pantries full of food. On Friday, June 15, 59 News is working with first responders and the United Way to 'Fill the Boot for Food.'
Drivers will see familiar faces from our 59 News team, as well as first responders and volunteers from the United Way. We will be out raising money for our 'Fill the Boot for Food' campaign.
Executive Director of United Way of Southern West Virginia, Michelle Rotellini, said this event will help the community out in a big way.
"Please take some time to slow down and throw in some loose change, or a couple dollars if you can. We are great stewards of the money and we will make sure it gets to all the food pantries in the area," Rotellini said.
We will be in Princeton, Beaver, and Fairlea collecting money for local food pantries from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
"There are a lot of people that are hungry that do not have food and this means a lot to them," Rotellini said.
The day marks our parent company, Nexstar's, founding, and it is a day to give back to the communities we serve.
