Ex-Saratoga County sergeant in slapping video faces judge in new case
MOREAU - A former Saratoga County Sheriff's sergeant who was arrested last year on weapon charges will appear in county court Thursday.
In August, Shawn R. Glans, 51, was charge with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, for allegedly having several rifles and a handgun that he was not authorized to possess.
In 2014, Glans resigned from the Sheriff's Office after slapping a young man in a traffic stop. In 1996, Glans was ticketed when he crashed his patrol vehicle into another car.
He was arraigned in Moreau Town Court and released. He will reappear at a later date.
Glans resigned from the sheriff's office after he allegedly slapped a man in a Walmart parking lot in Halfmoon. The altercation was captured on a video that once posted online got thousands of views.
Glans pleaded guilty to official misconduct the following year and was fined $1,505.
