Odisha: Juvenile arrested for attacking minor girl

A 14-year-old juvenile was on Wednesday arrested by Mangalapur police for allegedly attacking a minor girl of his village with a blade.

JAIPUR: A 14-year-old juvenile was on Wednesday arrested by Mangalapur police for allegedly attacking a minor girl of his village with a blade. The arrested youngster was identified as a student of Class IX. The victim, a 11-year-old girl, sustained multiple injuries in the attack and is battling for life at SCB Medical in Cuttack, police said. The incident took place on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old accused of Penthabada village used to stay at his uncle’s house at Deopada in Mangalpur and was studying in the local high school.Both the victim and the accused were known to each other. The juvenile attacked the girl over a petty dispute while plucking dates in a field. The girl sustained injuries on her neck and left hand, police said.  “Some passersby found my niece lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to local hospital and later shifted to SCB as her condition deteriorated,” the uncle of the victim stated in his complaint.The juvenile has been sent to children’s remand home.
