Did Someone Just Order A New Mercedes CLS With A Panamericana Grille?

The Panamericana grille is an AMG-only feature, limited to new and upcoming high-performance products from Merc’s Affalterbach-based division.

The AMG GT family has it, the new A45 will adopt it, too, and so will the next generation GLE63.

Nonetheless, despite benefiting from an AMG derivative called the ’53’, the latest CLS lacks the flashy yet stylish part. And for good reason, since Mercedes won’t make a full-blown CLS63 , as this will eventually be replaced by the GT 4-Door Coupe that debuted in Geneva this spring.

Still, while there won’t be an official CLS with the Panamericana grille, we can see how it’d look like thanks to these renderings. Penned by Yuliyan Dochev, they also include a front apron, fender add-ons, extended side skirts, diffuser, and discreet boot lid spoiler that are supposedly made from carbon fiber.

So, ladies and gentlemen, this is how a CLS53 would, more or less, be like, if Mercedes decided to shoehorn the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 under its sharp bonnet. Now that would make for a nice rival to the Audi RS7 and BMW M8 Gran Coupe, but, like we said earlier, it won’t happen as it would be too close for comfort to the GT 4-Door Coupe.

What’s interesting, though, is that the digital artist describes the CLS as a “customer project”, using words such as “approved version” and “production time”, which could indicate that we could be looking at something commissioned by a customer that, judging by the license plate, may or may not be Bulgarian.
