'The Little Mermaid' provides fun and adventure

Kids of all ages enjoyed performances of “The Little Mermaid” by Ballet Wichita in three Butler County locations last Saturday.
The musical, based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen, was performed in Augusta, Andover and El Dorado.  Taylor Cunningham-Osterman directed and choreographed the show.
Sponsors in Andover were the Andover Recreation Commission and The Capitol Federal Amphitheater.  The Augusta sponsors were the Augusta Arts Council and Historic Theatre, and the Augusta Public Library.  And in El Dorado, the El Dorado Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Bradford Memorial Library.
The production featured lots of talented dancers in beautiful, unique costumes.
Ariel, youngest daughter of King Triton, is dissatisfied with life in the sea. She longs to be with the humans above the surface, and is often caught in arguments with her father over those "barbaric fish-eaters". She goes to meet Ursula, the Sea Witch, to strike a deal, but Ursula has bigger plans for this mermaid and her father.
Over 600 attended the performance in Augusta on Saturday morning in Garvin Park.
