Mystery Honda Sedan Design Shown in Trademark Filing
Honda has trademarked a design for a mysterious new sedan with the Chinese intellectual property office.
It’s not clear what this new sedan is exactly, but it’s possible it’s for China only. It’s possible it’s an updated version of the Honda Spirior – a China-only sedan based on the previous generation Honda Accord. Perhaps the Spirior will remain in production in updated form and will be sold alongside the new Honda Accord in China, serving as a budget alternative to the more up-to-date offering.
This sedan has all the hallmarks of a modern-day Honda sedan, from the tall black grille to the narrow headlights and split-segment taillights. It looks fairly anonymous, making it hard to say exactly what it is, but don’t be shocked if Honda debuts a vehicle with a similar design at one of the local Chinese motor shows sometime this year. The two major Chinese motor shows, Shanghai and Beijing, have already come and gone, but there’s still shows to be held in Chengdu and Guangzhou.
