Thirteen of the total 22 districts in Punjab have gone paperless. Barely six months after the pilot project of online property registration was launched, the Punjab Government has implemented the system in 79 offices of 13 districts.

The people-friendly paperless transaction has been lapped up by the people as it increases transparency in the property registration process, said a spokesperson of the state Revenue Department..

Spokesperson said that as many 52,859 documents had been registered online till the last week of May through the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) online property registration system.The cloud-based NGDRS was rolled out by the State Revenue Department in November 2017, and has been accepted by the people who have registered more than 52,000 documents online in a short span of time.

The online property registration facility has been created in the NGDRS portal, which is running successfully in the districts of SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Faridkot, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Bathinda, Fazilka, Patiala, SBS Nagar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ferozepur and Mansa. It is also available at tehsil level in Moga and sub-tehsil level at Adampur in Jalandhar.

Among the districts, Mohali leads with 17,497 online registries, followed by 5,354 in Bathinda, 4,902 in Patiala, 4,547 in Kapurthala, 3,674 in Faridkot, 3,503 in Moga, 3,100 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 3,066 in Rupnagar, 1,757 in Pathankot, 1,681 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, 1,474 in Fazilka, 1,232 in Adampur, 613 in SBS Nagar, 293 in Ferozepur, and 166 in Mansa.

Spokesperson said that the switch-over from manual to online property registration has been smooth, and the consumers’ confidence has increased and the project is making a clear headway.

Soon, it will be initiated in the remaining districts of the State, the spokesperson added.

Pertinently, the Online Property Registration System is very simple and citizen friendly, which provides an online interface to the citizens to enter data related to registration and uploading of property documents 24X7, enables automatic calculation of stamp duty, registration fees and other fees based on collector rates.

The citizens receive SMS alerts at data submission, appointment and completion of registration, eliminating the scope of fraud.

Further, the online appointment system gives flexibility to the citizens to choose their date of appointment for the registration.
