This shopping strip in Northeast Pennsylvania bore the brunt of a powerful storm that swept through the area Wednesday night.
Officials believe it was a tornado.
SOUNDBITE: ALYSSA SHAVER, WITNESS, SAYING: "The first thing I saw was a u-haul on top of another u-haul." SOUNDBITE: RYAN SOLT, WITNESS, SAYING: "This is the U-Haul building!
Over there, most of it is cleared out now, but there were just huge chunks of concrete.
I've never seen anything like this ever!" Cars and trucks were tossed and crushed under debris.
Vehicles from this Nissan dealership were thrown into other parking lots.
Buildings were reduced to rubble.
Officials say it's one of the worst storms to ever hit the area.
SOUNDBITE: JOHN JABLOWSKI, WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP COUNCIL MEMBER, SAYING: "Extremely fortunate that this occurred at 930 and not 630.
If this occurred at 630 during rush business hours, we would have had a much worse situation." Six people suffered minor injuries in the storm.
The National Weather Service will be in Wilkes-Barre to assess the damage and determine whether it was a tornado.
