FIR against striking RIMS employees in case of any casualty during the strike called by them in future

RANCHI: To bring medical services on tracks in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has directed officials to lodge named FIR against striking doctors and nurses of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), in case any casualty takes place during the strike called by them in future.
The decision was taken during a review meeting of RIMS and health department in the light of the strike called by nurses and junior doctors on June 3 which claimed over a dozen lives of patients undergoing treatment due to alleged medical negligence in State's largest hospital. Nurses and junior doctors went on strike following a scuffle with family members of a patient Geeta Devi, who was declared dead during treatment in RIMS.
"Indiscipline will not be tolerated at any cost; lodge named FIR against the protesting employees of RIMS if any casualty takes place during strikes called by them in future," said Das. People come here with high expectations; they must not face difficulties here during treatment, he added. "One must have to discharge his duties. Doctors will now look after only medical works, while an IAS officer will be appointed here to look after the management works," said Das.
Everybody's responsibility will be clearly defined to avert any confusion in this regard, he added. The Chief Minister also directed to set up a police picket in RIMS campus which will also report to the concerned police station in case a patient is brought there after an accident.
In addition to that, he also directed to depute 200 ex-army men after removing the security which has failed to maintain peace in the hospital premises. Das also directed officials to allow only one attendant with the patients admitted there on the lines of private hospitals after clearly deciding the visiting hours for the family members.
"A system must be developed which must be followed strictly and one who does not abide by it, should not be allowed in RIMS," said the CM. He also directed officials to fulfil the vacant posts in RIMS so that better medical services could be ensured to the people coming there.
