Surat: There was ruckus at the gates of S D Jain School on Udhna-Magdalla Road in Vesu over the issue of not granting admission to one of the past students despite having 94 per cent marks in his class X examination here on Thursday. The group of parents was demanding readmission of Jitendra Surana’s son.
When a group of parents tried to enter the school campus, the management closed the gates. Both of them later registered cross-complaints against each other at Umra police station. While the school management registered a complaint of trespassing against the parents, a female member of the group filed a complaint of molestation against the staff members of S D Jain School.
Surana told TOI, “My son obtained 94 per cent in class X examination and was initially given admission by the school. On June 12, the school cancelled his admission and sent us his school leaving certificate by post.” He alleged this was because he was leading fee hike agitation in the city.
Trustee of S D Jain Trust Dipak Vaidya said, “It is in the hands of the management to grant a new admission or not. Only marks are not seen. Other issues are also taken into consideration.”
School management alleged that some parents had used foul language and had even thrown stones. The parents alleged that the school management misbehaved with them.
A female member said her leg was caught by a staffer and that she was shoved by him.
A police officer of Umra police station said, “We have registered both the parties’ complaints and started investigation.”
