The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi will conduct an ‘Open House’ for women candidates, who have cleared the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced 2018) to give a chance to applicants to interact with teachers and the current students on June 17.

This year, about 14% of seats in every branch at every IIT have been designated as female-only seats. This has been done by creating supernumerary seats,” the institute said in a statement.

The Open House for female candidates will be held in the institute’s Lecture Hall Complex LH121 from 10 am to 5 pm. There will also be consultation via emails and telephone calls, an official said.

“The idea is to encourage girls to join an IIT and allay any doubts or fears that they or their parents might have, regarding different branch options and campus life in general for women at the IITs,” the institute said in a statement.

The event is being organised under the aegis of ‘Initiative for Gender Equity and Sensitisation (IGES)’, a unit of IIT-D.
