SOMERSET — One tremendous player. Two undefeated teams. No admission fee. And it's right in town

It'll be a tennis lover's free feast on Thursday when Somerset Berkley Regional hosts the Division 3 South boys' tennis championship match between top-seeded Maimonides (11-0) and second-seeded Dover-Sherborn (18-0), at 3 p.m.

Dover-Sherborn is led by senior Max Schuermann, last year's runnerup in the state individual tournament and the top seed in this year's individual tourney, which will hold its semifinals and final on Saturday at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury.

A year ago, Schuermann had two match points in the third set before losing to Westborough's Samukh Pathi in the state individual championship match. He has played No. 1 singles for four years, suffering just two losses (regular season and postseason combined) while leading Dover-Sherborn to a 63-0 regular-season record.

Schuermann is bound for Colby College.

In the South Sectional, Dover-Sherborn has waded through two South Coast Conference teams, Bourne 5-0 in the first round and Old Rochester 4-1 in the semifinals. D-S also downed Cohasset 5-0 in the quarters.

Maimonides has defeated Middleboro 4-1, St. John Paul II 5-0, and Sturgis 4-1.
