CHHAPRA: A clerk of Rajendra College at Chhapra, Shiv Vinai Rai, was stabbed to death following an altercation with few students over submission of degree (part I) examination forms out of turn.
The 30-year-old was rushed to the sadar hospital where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
Irate college employees ceased work, raised slogans and demanded arrival of the VC of JP University of which the college is a constituent unit.
Saran SP Har Kishore Rai and varsity officials, including proctor U S Yadav and controller of examinations Anil Kumar Singh, later rushed to the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, some students tried to submit their examination forms after jumping the queue meant for the purpose. The clerk resisted their bid and a verbal wrangle ensued. Amid all this, someone stabbed him.
The SP assured the agitating employees that the culprits would be brought to book soon. The employees also demanded adequate compensation to the bereaved family and a job to one family member.
Shiv Vinai, whose father Ramji Rai also worked as a demonstrator in the same college, is survived by wife and two small children.
The incident reminded old-timers of the sensational killing of college principal Bhola Prasad Singh on the campus in 1971. Bhola died after he was hit by a javelin.
