Timeline for Honor's GPU Turbo rollout announced, Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro first in line to receive it: Report

The company's GPU Turbo is said to boost 60 percent of its device's GPU efficiency, while lowering the SoC's power consumption by 30 percent.

As per the report, speaking at 2018 CES ASIA in Shanghai, Gang announced that the Huawei  Mate 10 Series of devices will be the first to be seeded with the GPU Turbo technology. The rollout timeline is as follows:

  • End of June: Mate 10 Series and for the Honor View 10.

The GPU Turbo mode is basically a software upgrade, which is said to reconstruct the traditional graphics processing framework at the lower layer system for improving the user experience. The company claims that it was able to achieve this ‘technological breakthrough’ of improving the GPU’s efficiency on their device by 60 percent, while reducing the SoC energy consumption by 30 percent. We will actually wait for the update to be rolled out and find out ourselves whether the company’s claims hold water. Further, Huawei added that even if its device does not support High Dynamic Range (HDR), it will still be able to deliver "outstanding" graphics quality with GPU Turbo.
