JAMMU: At least six people, including a CRPF man were injured when a group of miscreants on Thursday attacked a CRPF convoy amid rumours that a child had been killed, in Banihal tehsil of Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir.

SSP Ramban, Mohan Lal said the attack took place after a bus ferrying CRPF personnel hit a car parked at a market.

“The two sides had a heated altercation. Meanwhile some elements spread a rumour that a minor girl died after the bus hit the car, which created tension and panic among the people in the area,” sources said.

Lal said a case has been registered and the rumour mongers have been identified. Strict action will be taken against the accused, he added.
