Yoga Day: Partha takes exception to WB Guv directly writing to

Education today said K N Tripathi's decision to directly send letters for International Day celebrations to universities, by bypassing the state government, was "unprecedented and unacceptable".

"The norm is that sends letters to the state universities. But this time, we are seeing that the Governor, in his capacity as of state universities, has directly written letters to the VCs, urging them to celebrate International Day. This is unprecedented and unacceptable," told reporters here.

The International Day is celebrated on June 21.

"The himself should think whether this amounts to violation of norms. We are not taking this decision in good humour," he said.

The government, the said, will observe the day this year too, like it did in 2017.

"After we came to power, we have given special stress to yoga and physical fitness education in all schools," he said.

According to media reports, Tripathi had written to vice-chancellors of all state universities to observe International Yoga Day.
