Dominique Alexander has been named coach of the Olentangy Berlin High School boys lacrosse team after leading Olentangy for one season.
Alexander also has been a midfielder for Major League Lacrosse’s Ohio Machine since 2013, helping them to their first MLL championship last season.
A native of Baldwin, New York, Alexander played for Ohio State from 2010-13 and ranks seventh in program history in career assists (48) and 10th in career points (95).
“This is great news for Berlin High School with Dominique’s background in the sport and what he did this spring at Olentangy,” athletics director John Betz said. “He is such a kid-centered coach, and that is what we have tried to do at Berlin with our coaching staff as a whole.”
This spring under Alexander, Olentangy went 16-4 and won the OCC-Buckeye Division championship. The Braves also reached a Division I, Region 1 semifinal, where they lost to Olentangy Liberty 13-10 on May 22.
Alexander was an assistant at Olentangy in 2016 and 2017 before succeeding Zach Peterson as Braves coach last August. Peterson resigned after five seasons to become an assistant principal at Liberty.
Berlin is scheduled to open this fall.
