The Punjab Congress is all set to launch a village-level awareness campaign against “anti-people” policies of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre from June 14.

The campaign, will be held till June 21, would concentrate on ever increasing prices of petroleum and its products, anti-farmer and anti-poor policies of the Central Government.

“Earlier, similar protests have been held at district and Vidhan Sabha constituency level,” said the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president and Gurdaspur MP Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday, while also releasing a poster carrying statistics and facts about the failure of Modi government in controlling petro prices and bringing respite to common man.

The poster also contains data of the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's term wherein Congress government bought costly crude oil and gave diesel on cheaper rate, while now, the Modi government is buying cheaper crude oil and selling costly diesel.

Jakhar stated that the Modi government has recorded steep hike in petrol prices which has adversely affected the agriculture sector as well as the other sectors of country. It has led to inflation and affected the economy in a bad way, he said.

He said that the Congress will highlight these failures of Modi government during its campaign to make rural pockets well aware of the ways Central Government was duping them.
