VADODARA: Burglars targeted a house at Sagdol village in Karjan taluka in the wee hours of Thursday and decamped with
cash and ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh.
Complainant, Pravinsinh Rathod, who is a farmer, told the police that the thieves entered his house from the back door using the original key.
Police said that after Rathod’s elderly father went to sleep inside the house, Rathod and his wife locked the back door and slept in the open. The lock’s key was kept by Rathod’s wife under her pillow. The thieves took the key from there without making the complainant realize and entered the house.
When Rathod woke up in the early hours and went inside his house, he found that the safe was open. Cops said that the thieves stole Rs 1.5 lakh cash and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5.5 lakh kept inside the safe.
According to police, the thieves then exited from the door in the kitchen and locked the back door again and placed the key at its place. “We suspect that the crime was committed by a gang which has broken into many houses in the past,” said a police official.
