Valparai on Wednesday, police said.
Jayaprakash, the deceased, was seen by some locals taking selfies with his mobile phone and slipping and falling into the waters, they said.
A search was on for him based on a complaint by his father, police said.
Valparai has been receiving incessant rains for the last six days.
