NEW DELHI:Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been responding well to treatment for urinary tract infection at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, which is seeing a beeline of political leaders wanting to enquire about his health.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, the hospital said the former Prime Minister was stable and “continues to respond well to treatment and is being monitored closely by a team of doctors”.
Since his admission to the hospital, the 93-year-old leader has been in the ICU and has undergone medical tests. He is on injectable antibiotics and will stay in the hospital till his infection is controlled, authorities said.
Earlier in the day, former PMs Manmohan Singh and H D Deve Gowda, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat visited him. PM Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had called on him on Monday.
Others who visited him on Tuesday included Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Union Health Minister J P Nadda.
