Transport driver from Hamilton charged in crash on Hwy. 401 in eastern Ontario
A Hamilton man is facing charges after a tractor-trailer slammed into a stationary construction sign truck on Highway 401 on June 12.
Brent Lewin/Getty Images/FileBROCKVILLE, Ont. – Provincial police say a Hamilton driver is facing charges after a tractor-trailer slammed into a stationary construction sign truck on Highway 401 in eastern Ontario.
Police say an occupant of the sign truck suffered non-life threatening injuries in the collision Tuesday night and the tractor-trailer operator fled the scene leaving his driver’s side door behind.
They say the collision occurred in Augusta Township, Ont., and the truck was located west of the crash site at a service centre in Mallorytown, Ont.

Police say the driver was arrested and is alleged to have had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Kirandeep Singh Dhaliwal, 31, is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and failing to stop at a collision.
He is to appear in court in Brockville, Ont., on July 27.
