AHMEDABAD: The cut-off marks in the most sought-after engineering colleges will not register a significant change as compared to last year, but the colleges marked as the second or third preference may have a cut-off that is nearly two merit marks lower compared to last year.
Comparing the merit list declared on Tuesday with that of last year, it was clear that the first 500 students in the merit list had a merit mark of 99.041; the figure was 99.070 last year. In all, 39,000 students are included in the merit list.
Officials said that the first 1,000 students in the merit have a score of 98.193; the score for that group was 98.224 last year. The officials when the group of 20,000 students is considered, there is a fall of 1.5 merit marks compared to last year. The officials said that this means that as compared to last year, a vast chunk of students have passed with 60% marks this year.
A senior officer from the
Admission Committee for Professional Courses said that this year it appears that the computer and
information technology course would be in demand.
"We have been getting students inquiries about computer and IT course," said the officer. On Thursday,
Hetvi Patel, who was ranked 5,500 in the merit list, was one of the students who dropped by to make such an inquiry. "If I don't get admission in the computer science course, I will opt to study Bachelor of Science course," she said. Shivam Patel was at the ACPC office with the same inquiry.
