Aston Martin Rapide AMR Debuts In Limited Numbers With 603PS

Aston Martin‘s second AMR product, after the DB11, has arrived in the form of the Rapide.

Previewed by the concept car shown in Geneva last year, the British machine continues to pack the same naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine. The unit now makes 603PS (595hp / 440kW) and 630Nm (465lb-ft) of torque in Euro-spec, and 588PS (580hp / 433kW) for the rest of the world.

The extra muscle comes via the larger inlet manifolds, with tuned length dual inlet runners that enhance the airflow. Also, the engine and eight-speed gearbox have been recalibrated. Thus, Aston Martin claims the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint takes just 4.4 seconds, the 60mph (96km/h) mark is hit in 4.2 seconds, and top speed is 330km/h (205mph).

In order to handle the power boost, the Aston Martin Rapide AMR benefits from three-mode adaptive dampers, a 10mm (0.4in) lowered ride height, and standard carbon-ceramic brake discs.

Available in four color schemes, the car also has a few exterior changes that help it stand out. These are the lightweight black mesh grille, carbon fiber-made front splitter, bonnet, side sills and diffuser, gloss black side strakes and window surround, black exhaust tips and 21-inch wheels, among others.

The equipment list includes power folding heated side mirrors, dusk-sensing headlights, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, Ami III infotainment with 6.5-inch LCD screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, Caihness leather and Alcantara with contrast stitching, carbon fiber trim, and AMR Lime or Galena Silver highlights.

Customers can also spec their Aston Martin Rapide AMR with several optional extras, including another set of 21-inch rims, with a different pattern, carbon fiber mirror caps, side strakes, taillight infills, door handles and wing badges, and privacy glass.

Inside, they can go for the One-77 style steering wheel with carbon fiber paddle shifters, rear grab handles, garage door opener, second glass key, umbrella and Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Aston Martin says the new Rapide AMR will be available globally, except for Russia and China. Pricing will start from $240,000 in the United States, €229,950 ($270,631) in Germany and £194,950 ($260,730) in the United Kingdom. Production will be limited to 210 examples and deliveries will commence in Q4 2018.
