Local moviegoers can catch the Broadway musical that earned a former Ohioville man a Tony Award nomination.

"Bandstand" will screen at 7 p.m. June 25 and 28 at the Cinemark theaters in Center and Robinson townships.

Greg Anthony Rassen, who grew up in Ohioville, won the Drama Desk Award and garnered a 2017 Tony nomination as arranger and co-orchestrator of the show's music.

Rassen, now living in New York, returned to Beaver County last month to serve as keynote speaker at the Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland.

He wrote the incidental and dance music for "Bandstand," a musical set in the days following World War II, where Pfc. Donny Novitski returns home and strives to rebuild his life with only the shirt on his back and a dream in his heart. Inspiration strikes once NBC announces a national competition to find the nation’s next great musical superstars. Donny joins forces with a motley group of fellow veterans, forming a band unlike any the nation has ever seen.

Tickets for the Cinemark screenings cost $18 for adults, $17 for seniors and $16 for children, available online at fathomevents.com

Rassen's other Broadway conducting credits include "An American in Paris," "Bullets Over Broadway," "The Little Mermaid" and "The Book of Mormon."

He received his bachelor of music degree in piano performance from West Virginia University and earned a master's degree in orchestral conducting from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
