Patna district transport officer (DTO) Ajay Kumar Thakur was booked on Wednesday for allegedly allowing transfer of an SUV owned by
slain BJP leader Krishna Sahi on basis of forged documents showing him alive after almost ten months of his murder.
The FIR against Thakur was lodged by BJP leader’s widow Shanta Sahi with
Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna. Krishna was state business cell chief of BJP. His body was found from a well from village Sendhwaria Manjha under Phulwaria police station in Gopalganj on July 19 last year.
Gandhi Maidan police station SHO Deepak Kumar that along with Thakur, Shanta had also made her husband’s former manager Subhash Rai and unknown transport department officials named accused in FIR.
Kumar, quoting FIR said the SUV purchased from Patna on February 10, 2012, was transferred on Subhash’s name from Patna’s district transport office allegedly on basis of forged documents.
Shanta, while talking to TOI over phone, said the insurance of SUV bearing registration number BR-01PB-4906 had lapsed on March 31 this year and she had approached her former insurance agent for renewal on Monday.
“It was only then I got to know that SUV’s ownership was transferred on Subhash’s name who was my husband’s former manager,” she said.
She said that on Tuesday, she went to district transport office and quizzed Thakur that on what basis he had allowed ownership transfer when documents and SUV was in her possession.
“Thakur ordered to bring SUV’s file in which an affidavit dated May 21, 2018, carrying my slain husband’s forged signature was found,” she said. She also said Thakur said that any employee might had done it after taking money. “Within minutes, he cancelled Subhas’s ownership and issued me a ownership certificate,” she said. Shanta is mukhiya of Chainpur panchayat and vice-president of mukhiya sangh in Gopalganj.
