When he was much younger and brasher, LeSean McCoy recalled informing the league's older running backs of how he was going to one day chase them down in the record books.

A month shy of his 30th birthday, the Buffalo Bills veteran is suddenly beginning to realize how the tables have turned.

"I hang out in the offseason with a lot of running backs like (Todd) Gurley and (Le'Veon) Bell, and the way they view me is like the old head baller," McCoy said Tuesday, referring to the Rams and Steelers star running backs. "It drives me. Now it's like reversed. Now it's 'OK, I'm still an elite player, but these young guys are creeping on me.'

"So I've got to continue to do better and be better."

Nothing has slowed him down yet, entering his fourth year in Buffalo and 10th in the NFL.

McCoy is coming off a season in which he had 1,138 yards rushing, and 1,586 yards from scrimmage (including 448 receiving) for the fifth-best totals of his career.

"What can I say, it's been a great ride. And I look forward to having a big year again," McCoy said, speaking to reporters for the first time this offseason, and after the Bills opened a three-day mandatory minicamp.

"I'm excited about this year. I'm excited to be back in that offense where it's hitting on all cylinders."

Bengals: Defensive end Carlos Dunlap is participating in minicamp after missing voluntary offseason workouts as his agent negotiates a contract.

Browns: Cornerback Howard Wilson will miss his second straight NFL season before it started. Wilson had surgery on Tuesday for a torn left patellar tendon and is expected to be sidelined the entire 2018 season.

Cardinals: Running back David Johnson skipped the first day of the mandatory minicamp amid reports that the sides are discussing a new contract. Johnson missed all but one game with a wrist injury last year.

Cowboys: Zack Martin is practicing with Dallas again as the two-time All-Pro closes in on a contract that's expected to make him the highest-paid guard in the NFL.

Panthers: Four-time All-Pro middle linebacker Luke Kuechly says he should be ready for full contact when training camp begins following offseason surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Raiders: Quarterback Christian Hackenberg has been cut, three weeks after Oakland acquired him from the Jets. He has yet to take a snap in a regular-season NFL game. ... Defensive end Khalil Mack is holding out from the mandatory minicamp. He is subject to a fine of more than $80,000 if he doesn't show up at all this week. Mack is entering the final season of his rookie contract that is set to pay him $13.8 million. He's seeking a long-term deal.

Rams: All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald is not attending mandatory minicamp while he continues his quest for a lucrative new contract.

Steelers: Antonio Brown says he skipped the vast majority of the team's organized team activities because he felt more comfortable working out back home in Miami, where the 29-year-old All-Pro wide receiver could spend time with his five children and escape what he described as the "pressure" he faces from outside forces daily in Pittsburgh.

Titans: Left tackle Taylor Lewan is skipping mandatory minicamp while his agents negotiate a new contract.
