Improving standard of living need of the hour, says Collector

Children, officials of various government departments and the NGOs took an oath to work with commitment and stop child labour.The stakeholders assembled to mark the World Day Against Child Labour, at the Sub-Collector’s office, on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector B. Lakshmikantham, has stressed the need to make sustainable development, poverty-free society and improve the standards of life to put an end to child labour.

“There are many government departments, bodies and NGOs, but better implementation of the laws is more important to stop menace. During childhood, they should not earn, and after they should perform and earn,” the Collector said and asked the parents to send their wards to schools.

Mr. Lakshmikantham flagged off an auto campaign against child labour. He, along with National Child Labour Project (NCLP) Project Director D. Anjaneya Reddy, Child Welfare Committee chairman B.V.S. Kumar, Women Development and Child Welfare Project Director K. Krishna Kumari, Deputy Commissioner of Labour Subramanyam, released brochures and posters against child labour.

Activists of Forum for Child Rights, Childline and various NGOs participated.
