CM warns of legal action against staff on strike

Threatening stern action against indiscipline and strike culture at the State’s premier medical institution, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, Chief Minister Raghubar Das today instructed officials to lodge a named FIR against health workers if there is any death due to their strike. The CM, while holding a review meeting with RIMS and Health Department officials here on Tuesday, said that the hospital was a place to serve, where people come with a lot of hopes.

He instructed everyone to do their own work and said that doctors will do treatment only and the management will be looked after by an IAS officer at RIMS. Das said that the premier health institution needs to be made the pride of the State.   

The CM also instructed to set up a police picket on the RIMS premises and said that alongwith the security arrangements police would send the report to concerned police stations after interrogating any accident victims. He also asked to deploy 200 retired security personnel there.

Talking about crowd management at RIMS, the CM said that there is unnecessary crowd inside the hospital. “Like private hospitals, only one attendant should be allowed to stay with a patient and visiting hours should be decided. No compromise should be done with cleanliness. Make a system and follow it strictly. If someone does not follow it, then show one the way out,” he said.

The CM also expressed surprise over the number of pathological labs and diagnostic centres present inside the RIMS campus. He asked the officials to immediately remove the centres given the fact the facilities are already available at RIMS. He also asked doctors not to open personal clinics.

Das instructed the authorities to complete the work of paying ward, trauma centre etc as soon as possible and appointment of manpower for them as well.  In the same way, to fill the shortage of doctors in the State, he asked to recruit them by way of campus selection. The CM asked to simplify the process of appointment of nurses and Assistant Professors at RIMS.

“Those nurses, who are completing the course, keep them in RIMS for a year for training. Make a payment of Rs 10,000 per month in this period. Give the Head of the Department the responsibility of the personnel working in their department. They will see the work of their attendance to payment,” he said. The department officials informed that there is only one Mortuary Van at RIMS. On this, the Chief Minister instructed to take at least five Mortuary Vans.

Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Development Commissioner DK Tiwari, Principal Secretary Health Department Nidhi Khare, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Secretary Department of Building Construction Sunil Kumar, Director, RIMS R K Srivastava and others were present in the meeting.
