SIT arrests one more in Gauri murder case

The special investigation team of Karnataka police, which is formed to probe cold blooded murder of journalist-turned-activist Gauri Lankesh, on Tuesday arrested 26-year-old Parshuram Wagmare from Sindagi

in Karnataka. He was produced before the 3rd ACMM Court in Bengaluru and has been taken into 14 days police custody for further interrogation. 

An officer in the SIT said his role in the conspiracy and other details will be revealed later as it would affect the investigation at this stage.

According to an SIT official the marathi-speaking man is suspected to have shot dead journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh.

The SIT also reportedly told the court that Wagmare is “directly involved” in the case. According to sources  the same gun was used to kill Lankesh and rationalist MM Kalburgi in Karnataka.

Kalburgi, 77, was shot dead at his home on 30 August, 2015, in Dharwad,  Gauri Lankesh, 55, was killed on 5 September, 2017 in Bengaluru. Gauri Lankesh, who was known for her strong anti-Hindutva stand, was shot dead in front of her house, triggering a nationwide outrage.
