INDORE: Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s two-page
suicide note not only shows his state of mind as he would have picked up the revolver, but also his concern for his family.
“Somebody should be there to handle duties of the family, I am leaving,” he scribbled on the first page, and on the second, asked his trusted sevadar Vinayak to handle his affairs after he is gone.
Vinayak , a close aide of the guru for decades, was seen distraught in hospital, his shirt streaked with blood. He was among those who broke down the door to find his body and rushed him to hospital.
“In the suicide note, Maharaj has asked his devotee, Vinayak to handle the property and business related affairs,” DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra told reporters outside his house in Silver Springs. Most of the other residents didn’t bother to check why a large police force had swarmed a house in their neighbourhood.
Shock, agony and a mystery: The life and times of Bhaiyyu Maharaj
Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the death, collecting CCTV footage from the house and checking call details of Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s phone.
‘Police going through CCTV footage, cell records’
DIG Mishra said, “Police are going through CCTV footage and his mobile records. We hope to learn the reasons behind his suicide in 24 hours.”
Bhaiyyu Maharaj had shifted a few months ago to a two-storied bungalow that does not carry a nameplate. His bungalow in Scheme Number 54 is believed to be undergoing renovation.
Kuhu was seen sobbing uncontrollably at the hospital. By evening, some devotees reached Silver Spring Township to pay their tribute but were stopped by police from entering the house. Many devotees went to ‘Suryodaya’, an ashram run by Maharaj’s trust at Bapat Square.
