KOCHI: As part of the anniversary celebrations of its commercial operations launch, the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will provide the public with the opportunity to travel free of cost on June 19.
KMRL managing director A P M Muhammed Hanish said passengers can travel for free from all Metro stations.

“KMRL would like to thank Kochiites for all the love and support by making all rides in Kochi Metro free on June 19. We want the public to be a part of our celebrations to mark the successful completion of one year of Kochi Metro’s commercial operations,” said Hanish.

Though Kochi Metro was commissioned on June 17, 2017, the commercial operations were launched only two days later. Aluva right-hand side entry will also be opened for public at 2 pm from June 19. A lucky draw will be on offer for those travelling between June 15 to 18 this month.

On Sunday, the celebrations will start with cake cutting at the Edappally station. A magic show by Gopinath Muthukad will be another major attraction. His special show “Time Traveller-Magic Metro” will be held at 11.30 am at the Edappally station on June 17. Cultural activities are also planned at Aluva and Maharajas stations.
