291 boats yet to be colour coded

About 291 fishing boats are still to be colour coded and around 2,600 fishermen in the district were yet to get the biometric identity cards.

This was disclosed by Assistant Director Fisheries P. Lakshmana Rao, here at a review meeting on coastal security conducted by Collector Pravin Kumar, on Tuesday. In the district there are around 40,000 fishermen and biometric cards have been given to 37,609 and of the 4,212 fishing boats 3,921 boats have been colour coded.

Keeping the security alert in mind, the Collector asked the department concerned to complete the task on war footing.

He also asked them to raise the compound walls for the coastal security police stations at Rushikonda, Pudimadaka and Pentakota.

ADCP (Special Branch) P.V. Ravi Kumar, Capt M. Venugopal from VPT, V. Chandrasekhar from Customs, M. Raja Rao and Ch. Adinarayana from Coastal Security Police, were present.
