A former purchasing agent for the city of Norman now finds himself accused of felony embezzlement.
Court documents filed in Cleveland County accuse 47-year-old Melvin Gore of buying nearly $1400 in police equipment and clothes, without authorization.
Police say Gore admitted doing it during the course of the past five years.
“We watch our budget extremely closely,” said Police Spokesperson Sarah Jensen. “We want to ensure tax dollars are being spent exactly how they should be spent.”
Court records show Gore also plead guilty in 2013 in Oklahoma County of concealing stolen property.
