The State Board examinations for Class XII students will begin on March 1, 2019 and for Class X on March 14 next year, School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan announced on Tuesday.
“From this academic year, students need not write two papers each for English and language as a result of which, we expect that the results too will be announced well in advance,” Mr. Sengottaiyan said. Class XII students will be writing a paper for 100 marks for two-and-a-half hours instead of a three-hour examination.
The board examination for Class XI students, who have a revamped syllabus for this academic year, will begin on March 6 and end on March 22. The schedule for announcement of results, too, have been declared. Class XII students are expected to get their results on April 19, exactly a month after they finish their exams. When asked if the tight schedule might bring about concerns with regard to evaluation, Mr. Sengottaiyan said it would be discussed with teachers as well. “As far as combined mark sheets with the results of both the Class XI and XII board exams are concerned, we have heard that this might not be beneficial to students and we will take a call on this in future.”
