Police recover stolen call taxi within 4 hours

A four-member gang attacked a call taxi driver and took away his car near Mangadu in the early hours on Tuesday. However, the police traced the vehicle within four hours.

According to sources, Selvam, a call taxi driver, got a call around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, asking him to pick up a customer near Baraniputhur. However, when he reached the spot, he could not find anyone there. When he was about to leave, four men, who were hiding, came out, assaulted him, snatched his car keys and fled with the vehicle.

Mr. Selvam lodged a complaint with the Mangadu police. The police personnel tracked the car using the GPS fitted in the vehicle around 9 a.m. near the Urapakkam railway station. Three of the men who were travelling in the car jumped out and escaped on seeing the police. One of the gang members was nabbed.
