Hitman carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 arrested in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A hitman of Chhenu Pehelwan gang carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 has been arrested. The shooter had carried out three murders in Delhi-NCR and had several other cases of robberies and extortion against him.
DCP (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said that the accused has been identified as Nadeem (32). He was arrested with a country-made pistol and two live cartridge from Brahmpuri area in northeast Delhi on Sunday evening. He is the cousin of gangster Chhenu Pehelwan.

Investigating officers said that Nadeem was wanted in three murder cases and one attempt-to-murder case and had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court. He used to work as a dairy farmer in Ghazipur but due to his short temper, used to get involved in fights which ultimately drove him towards crime.

He was first arrested for abducting and confining his neighbour at the dairy in 2009. Later on, Nadeem, along with his brothers killed a man in Seelampur area in 2015 over a property dispute after which he fled away from the capital.

His whereabouts remained unknown till 2017, when his name cropped up in a series of murders and robberies in Meerut. There, Nadeem killed two people while robbing them and seriously injured another in a similar incident. The UP police put a reward of Rs 50,000 on him to catch him.

Senior police officers said that an information was received that Nadeem would be coming to meet his ailing mother at the time around Eid following which a trap was laid near his house. He was trailed as he entered Delhi and subsequently arrested.
