Coimbatore: Twenty Bharathiar University faculty have been given promotions under the career advancement scheme (CAS).
“The promotions would be made from stage I to stage II and stage II to stage III. The promoted teachers would ascend from sixth grade pay to the seventh and from the seventh to the eighth,” a university source said, adding that the promotions under CAS have been given after a gap of two years.

Meanwhile, sources said former controller of examinations CR Gladys Leema Rose has sought 15 days time to respond to the memo demanding explanation on the allegations against her in connection with irregularities in selling answer scripts to scrap dealers.

Rose told TOI that she had asked the university for documents, based on which she was given the memo. “I had visited the university on June 7 and had asked for the documents relating to the allegations. They have put a note order to the VC committee and the registrar. Once I get the documents, I would respond to the memo,” she said.

Rose added that she had sold the answer scripts to a government firm after calling tenders.

The university’s syndicate meeting would be held on June 18.
